"Aromatherapy is an art which induces relaxation and increases energy, reduces the effects of stress and restores lost balance to mind, body, and soul."

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that uses essential oils to improve both physical and emotional wellbeing.

Essential oils are extracts of plants, herbs and flowers' immune system. Plant oils have been used as therapy for thousands of years.

Aromatherapy is used to balance, harmonise and promote the health of body, mind and spirit, it has been proven effective in pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.

It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process.

Aromatherapy can be used alongside medical treatment to help the body with pain and relaxation.

Aromatherapy is one of those practices, and like massage it originates millions of years ago as it was known to ancient civilisations. Egyptians used cedar oil in religious and embalming ceremonies, Greeks believed that scents were a product of the gods and used essential oils in cosmetics, Romans used them in massage, Native America Indians burned aromatic herbs for healing ceremonies and the Arabs were the first one to use the oils as we do nowadays.

In the 16th Century, Brunswick, a German physician, documented 25 essential oils and their benefits. and in the 17th century those oils were used in medicines and to combat pestilence and diseases.

Unfortunately towards the second half of this century, natural scents stared to be replaced by chemically flavours and cheaper synthetic scents, but in 1930s the interest in essential oils came back due to an accident in the perfume factory of Rene Gattefosse. While working, Gattefosse burned his hands and plunged them in the nearest available liquid which happened to be lavender, benefitting his recovery and leaving him with no scars.

During WW2 essential oils were used internally to treat soldiers and soon after that, a biochemist in Austria developed the use of essential oils with massage techniques.

Both aromatherapy and massage are natural holistic practises which benefit no only our body but also our mind and soul. Being natural therapies they aren’t harmful for our body and rarely present side effects. This has drawn people to reproach those practices for a better and healthier lifestyle and wellbeing.

After a consultation where I discuss with you the relative chakra blockages, I will perform a full body and face massage, focusing on the chakra in need. You will be bathed by the energy of that chakra and will be given a mantra to keep in mind during the treatment.

I will use a specific aromatherapy blend to soothe your pains. At the end of the session, you will be given a small crystal to remind you to focus and pay attention to what was worked on.

The 7 chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our 7 chakras can often lead to illness.
