Lavender Pure Essential Oil
Lavender, without a doubt, is the most commonly used essential oil in aromatherapy and cosmetics for its calming, relaxing and skin-soothing properties. The very name 'Lavender' is descriptive of these age-old uses, which go back to Roman times. The Latin word 'lavare' from which 'Lavender' derives, simply means 'to wash'. It is a calming, relaxing and balancing essential oil which is useful for treating stress, anxiety and mood swings. It is also ideal for use before bed to help with night time awakenings and insomnia. Lavender essential oil has long been known for its beneficial effect on the immune system and its antiseptic, skin-healing and pain-relieving properties. Lavender oil has a restorative, tonic effect and is a popular aromatherapy oil for relieving head tension. It is also commonly used within therapeutic blends to soothe the joints and muscles.
Lavender has antiseptic properties and is soothing and nurturing for the skin. It helps to tone and revitalise the skin and it is particularly soothing for inflammatory skin conditions, acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis nappy rash, boils, dandruff, burns, wounds, insect bites and stings. Lavender has a soothing and calming effect on the nerves. It can be beneficial for treating stress, anxiety, depression, nervous tension and insomnia. It is a well known and singularly useful remedy for light-headedness or dizziness, and is even effective in fainting or as a first aid remedy for shock. Lavender calms and stabilises the Qi of the heart, and it alleviates feelings of panic and hysteria. It calms any strong emotions that threaten to overwhelm the mind. In addition, it eases frustration and irritability. Defined as ‘both habit-breaker (stuck energy) and crisis-smoother’. Soothing the sense of trauma that inhibits self expression, lavender is suited to the individual who is full of creative potential, but who is frustrated in fulfilling it due to self-conscious reserve. It encourages the full expression and perfection of the individual self.
